Fireworks - Downtown Kingston, Jamaica

Happy New Year Everyone!!!  It was really windy on the waterfront this year and the rockets were all over the place.  It  makes you appreciate shooting these things from a mile or more when you have to be constantly recomposing to try and follow the rockets.  I've also included the human element into the shots this year.  Enjoy

"Nike - The Guardian"

This image reminded me of a statue that overlooks the Welch town of Six Bells.  It's a pity most of the shadow detail is lost while displayed online .  However, I liked the dark hollow lifeless feeling the lighting seems to give to the person standing on the platform.  Contrastingly Nike (the winged Greek Goddess of victory) is often sculpted with hands in a triumphant pose.

The seemingly stoic form watching the struggling man pulling the rope, wanting to assist but can only witness -  the shoes can only do so much.
