JCDC and the Cultist...Part 1

This year my bio in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) National Visual Arts Competition & Exhibition reads as follows:

"Julian has been a long time participant in the Competition, receiving the full range of awards including the coveted gold medal and sectional prizes.  He became interested in Photography during his studies at the University of Technology and developed a special love for images in black and white."

This year i entered the maximum three (3) images.  Two were given awards, a silver and a bronze and the third was rejected.  I'll give a break down of each series of work(s) below.

Retro Erotica:
A female form with a slight "aged" look.

The Darkness Encompassed:

Using a simple element found on the road side I went about exploring a rather sinister element using a single on axis directional light.

Bull Bay after the storm:
Taken from the mouth of the Hope River with Bull Bay in the background.  I didn't bother to enter this series.  I never felt that vibe from it even though I worked hard on them.  Comment below and let me know your thoughts.

Natures Tapestry:
A Play on patterns found on leavesAnother series I did not bother to enter.

Part 2:  The awarded and Photos from the event.
